Data Center

Microsoft WLO South Texas Data Center
John was Project Executive for this 471,000, tier 4 data center and began his involvement during predevelopment starting with site due diligence to help determine the best location to build the facility. Originally planned as a two pahse project with the 471,000 square foot shell and 250,000 of data space in Phase 1 and the remaining data space going in Phase 2, MSN’s need changed and the project became, essentially a single phase project. Site logistics, construction flow line and sequencing had to be revised “on the fly”. Working with his on-site team, this was accomplished to allow for a seamless transition from two phases to one.

MCIWorldCom Network Information Centers (NIC) Project NFL
The facilities were conceptually designed by a team of builders in led by John who was responsible for the overall Design/Build program. Originally designed to meet the needs of WorldCom, prior to its merger with MCI, the facilities were easily modified during construction to meet the demands of a diverse owner. Originally a thirteen facility program, only twelve 108,336 square foot facilities were funded. John’s program preplanning and involvement in the pre-development ensured that all design and construction was in compliance with the Owner’s initiative for cost and time to market. From conception to substantial completion these facilities had a 276 day completion schedule, 200 days faster than had been done by the owner’s previous methods. Varying site characteristics and building constraints as well as Utility Service Provider capabilities made each individual project a challenge. The performance exceeded the owner’s requirements for the program budgeted at $800MM.
